Commencement

It marks the “beginning” of something.  It also denotes finishing with distinction!  The belief that we have achieved the latter…is a pillar… to be found between the columns of “temporarily” and “blindly.”  In truth, your most important commencement ceremony has yet to happen.  It will fall on an unpublished day, at an unannounced hour.  Until then…consider yourself enrolled in the U. of LIFE where internships, apprenticeships, and residencies are perpetual devices that build character, by stripping away your character flaws.  They are the apparatus by which GOD lovingly hones your humanity, to the point where being HUMANE takes precedence over being human, and ultimately becomes more than a series of singular actions, but a singular way of life.

May you finish, by the grace of God, with distinction!

“Greed I’ve often regretted.  Generosity…never.”

Shared by Max Lucado in his book Grace for the moment.  One of my absolute favorite books!  It’s one worth owning…especially if you’ve made room for GOD in your life.

“The living…are the dead on vacation.”

    - Maurice de Maeterlinck

This week, let’s prove him wrong by enjoying more of the former in the absence of the latter!
